Al-Hidayah has been running since 2005, with a rich 20 year history. Have a look through some of our previous event highlights to gauge an insight into our work.
Following a three-year break due to the international Covid pandemic Al-Hidayah 2023 returned in its original three-day residential format running from 26-28 August at the University of Warwick.
This was the largest al-Hidayah three-day residential event to date, with over 1250 participants attending from the United Kingdom and around the world.
Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri delivered a series of lectures explaining the merits of spiritual company and the ideal destination being our ultimate journey back towards our creator (Allah).
Dr Ghazala Hassan Qadri also delivered a separate session for sisters, whilst Shaykh Hammad Mustafa al-Madani al-Qadri delivered two talks to all attendees.
Internationally acclaimed photographer and author Peter Saunders presented a unique session entitled ‘Exemplars for Our Time’ combining an exhibition and talk.
Al-Hidayah 2023 also included recreational and spiritual activities as well as dedicated workshops covering a variety of areas and interests.
In 2019, 800 participants attended the al-Hidayah two day event in Manchester entitled ‘al-Rihla wal-Sohba’ a sacred journey of learning in the company of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri.
The participants embarked on a spiritual journey understanding the need for good, pious company and delving into the mystical, spiritual and enchanting couplets of Rumi’s ‘Mathnawi’.
Once again, the al-Hidayah three day residential retreat over three days was held at Keele University in Staffordshire.
This event entitled ‘Violent extremism – the Counter-narrative’ also included workshops and training and spiritual activities as well as a series of three main lectures delivered by Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri.
The lectures were unique in empowering the 500 attendees with the essential academic tools to counter the false narrative of violent extremism with a counter-narrative based on the correct and original teachings of Islam.
After a five year break due to larger national events, the Al-Hidayah three day residential retreat returned with 300 participants spending three days in the picturesque Keele University in Staffordshire.
This event entitled ‘Future Leaders’ introduced an array of workshops and training and spiritual activities as well as a series of three main lectures delivered by Shaykh Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri (President Minhaj-ul-Qur’an International).
Al-Hidayah 2010 was once again held at the University of Warwick between 7 August and 9 August 2010.
This was the largest al-Hidayah three-day residential event to date, with over 1200 participants attending from the United Kingdom and around the world.
Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri delivered a series of lectures, question and answer sessions and a dedicated media briefing session. An array or recreational and spiritual activities were also arranged.
Entitled the “Al-Hidayah Youth Camp”, more than 1,000 participants from across the world attended the retreat in August 2009 at the University of Warwick.
The main speaker at the event was Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri who delivered five lectures.
Esteemed international guest Shaykh Asad Muhammad Saeed as-Sagharji of Syria and Shaykh Abdul Hakim Murad of the Cambridge also participated in the event.
The third annual Al-Hidayah Residential Spiritual and Educational Retreat also took place at Heythrop Park Oxfordshire.
Hundreds of participants from the United Kingdom and Europe attended. Once again, the main speaker was Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri.
This was held between Friday 25 August and Monday 28 August 2006 at Heythrop Park, Oxfordshire.

In 2005, Minhaj-ul-Quran UK began ‘Al-Hidayah’, a series of annual three-day residential educational and spiritual retreats, catering for British Muslims, whilst also inviting participation of Islamic scholars from other countries.
Over 300 young Muslims attended this three-day event where the main speaker was Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri.
